"Cleanup" Doesn't Depend on "Read" Status?

I'm surprised to not find this as an option (?) I'd just like to auto-delete any read podcasts in certain streams. Is this really not possible? (Everything else about this app seems so well thought out...)

In the phone version, there's a separate Delete Played entry on the Menu, immediately below Episode Cleanup (but only if there are any played episodes in the category you're currently looking at).

In the tablet version, once you've long pressed to start multi-select, you can select Played, and then choose action Delete.

    Got it. Thanks.

Is there also something equivalent to the iTunes "Do Not Auto Delete" selection? I.e., tag or star a podcast to not be deleted?

Yes, you can lock an episode, using the padlock on the pop-up episode details in the player, or by long pressing the episode in Feed or Episode view and choosing Lock Episode from the menu.

You can prevent all episodes in a feed from being auto deleted by unticking "Allow episode deletions" in the Advanced Settings section.

When manually mass deleting (e.g. Delete Played or Episode Clean-up) BP will ask if you also want to delete locked episodes. I use this quite a lot for a couple of BBC feeds where episodes are only available for a week after publication, so there's no way to re-download if they accidentally get deleted.
