Add Swipe Gesture to Quick Rewind during "In-Car" Use

One very useful feature I discovered while using BeyondPod in my car is the ability to pause playback by tapping anywhere on the screen. This allows me to keep my eyes on the road.

Another feature that would help in the car would be to swipe to rewind, as this is the other major function typically used in the car during playback (e.g., not being able to hear a section due to something loud happening in the environment). I find the rewind button to be pretty small and distracting to find while driving, while a quick swiping motion would make things feel safer.

    Thanks,

    Jon

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, left and right swipes already have other meanings in BP, but we're actively working on a UI refresh for BP 4.0, and will see whether it's possible to incorporate it then.

    Thanks for considering it.

Perhaps another gesture (e.g., triple tap)?

That's being experimented with for BP 4.

Check out App for Audible. They address this issue nicely by having a special "button-free" mode that does exactly what I described (tap to pause, swipe left or right to rewind or fast-forward by 30 seconds, long-tap to bookmark)

Swiping will still be key to BP4 (using the newer style "drawers"), and there enough views already to probably not want to add another specific "car-friendly" one, but we are certainly considering double and triple tap in the full screen player to FF / Rew.

Bookmarking will be available from the full screen player view too - although perhaps not currently envisaged in quite such a car-friendly manner. However, allowing the user to long tap for that (or for some other action of the user's choice) is certainly a reasonable possibility.
