Lock Screen Widget vanishes if playback is paused/interrupted

In the current beta version on a stock Android 5 image on a Samsung Galaxy S5 with the pattern unlock method selected, the following problem exists:

If you're listening to an episode on your headphones and there are already several active notifications (or they pop up while the phone is locked), once the screen locks, the widget will be visible on the screen, but if you now want to pause playback of the episode or remove the headphones, and pausing it that way, the other notifications will push the widget into the background and you'll now have to unlock the phone just to resume playback.

Is there any way to assign the widget a higher priority so the less important notifications won't keep it from working as expected?

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

The lockscreen on Lollipop is handled as a notification, not a widget (see Controlling playback from the device Lock Screen). Can you not dismiss the other notifications that are getting in the way, so that you can access the BP one? Certainly on Wear devices (which also use notifications), you can swipe between notifications, even without dismissing the "most current" one.

Thanks, unfortunately some notifications like the Hola VPN app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...org.hola&hl=en) are permanent and can't be dismissed as long as the undrelying service is active in the background.

I've found out that the BeyondPod controls can be accessed by clicking on one of the smaller notification icons to bring it to the foreground, but when the device is locked, the player is more important than some stuff that's only of use when the device is unlocked, so it would be more useful to have a way to give BeyondPod some kind of priority over other notifications.

It would, but I'm not sure that Android offers a mechanism to make it possible.

BeyondPod disappears form lock screen even when paused even when there are no other notifications. What about an option to make BeyondPod's notification an ongoing notification, versus a dismissable one, so it can be persistent on the lock screen?

Settings | Player Settings | Keep Paused Notification.
