    The Anfield Wrap Player Issues

Notice on Twitter that there's a fair number of subscribers to TAW Player who cannot download the feeds they're paying for. The TAW Player guys say there's no issue at their end and it only seems to be affecting Beyond Pod users. Can it get sorted ASAP. this feed is why I purchased the unlock key from Beyond Pod.

Could you please provide the URL that you have subscribed to, plus your BP version, and the error from BP's update log when you try to update.

NB: For some paid feeds, I've seen situations where changing the feed from http to https works.

The https idea didn't work for me, was unable to connect to the feed at all using this with either of the URLs below.

    2 possible URLs to use:
http://www.theanfieldwrap.com/player/subscribe - if username and password added to authenticate section then unable to download due to web exception HTTP status bad request 400. Refresh seems to be working.

http://Username:Password@www.theanfi...ayer/subscribe - if using this with no username or password in authenticate feed section then you can download but not refresh feed. If username and password added then you can refresh the feed but not download!

Using BP v4.1.44 on Android 5.0.2

I have the same issue following BP update today. It worked perfectly before the update.

    It can't connect using https

    URL is http://www.theanfieldwrap.com/player/subscribe

    BP version is v4.1.44

error from update log: WebException - unable to connect to remote Web Server! http status code 400 (bad request)

The feed updates but it won't automatically download the episodes. In order to download the episodes, I need to remove the username and password from the feed authetication and update the url to http://username:password@www.theanfi...ayer/subscribe This allows me to manually download the episodes but I can't update the rss feed itself without removing usernameassword@ prefix and adding the username and password pack into the feed authentication - it generates a 401.

Thank you for reporting this issue. The problem turns out is related to the way TAW hosts their episodes. In previous versions of the BeyondPod we used somewhat of a complex mechanism to handle authentication that automatically determined what is the best way to authenticate based on the server it was talking to. While this mechanism worked well for many feeds, it caused issues on some servers so in the latest version (4.1.44) we had to revert to a simpler, straight forward approach for authentication - similar to what other apps are using. This new approach apparently requires a small fix to handle TAW episodes (given the way they are hosted).

Here is how to get the premium TAW Player feed working again:

    1. Download and install latest BeyondPod Beta 4.1.45 from our BETA page. It as a fix to handle correctly user name/password when they are part of the feed URL.
    2. Open the feed Settings - long press on the feed in the left drawer and select "Edit Feed".
    3. Change the feed URL to: http://username:password@www.theanfi...ayer/subscribe where username and password are your TAW user name and password.
    4. IMPORTANT - Clear the "Feed User Name" and "Feed Password" fields (you can see them if you tap on "Advanced Settings" at the bottom of the page - both are under "Feed Authentication"). Make sure to empty BOTH fields.
    5. Press "Save".

For people that have problem downloading TAW feed's episodes, can you please try the workaround above and let us know if it worked for you.

This has worked for everyone who's tried it and responded on Twitter. Thanks for the quick fix!

Thank you very much for the feedback.

We will have to do a bit more testing to see if there are any other feeds that may have similar issue and eventually will push an update to the Play Store with a more "permanent" fix.

    Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for the link to the beta. It works a treat.

Looking forward to the permanent fix in the Play Store.

I've tried the workaround here and had no joy.

When you say the workaround, do you mean the beta version? What version of BeyondPod are you currently running?
What URL do you have in the feed subscription?
Have you removed the user name and password from the feed configuration?
