    Error 403 for BBC podcasts

I'm using Android devices. Since last week none of my BBC feeds will load, I'm getting an error message that access is forbidden, code 403.

All of my BBC feeds are working fine for me in the UK (Wittertainment, Click, Archers and Archer Omnibus, The Infinite Monkey Cage, Chequered Flag, etc.). Are you in the UK? 403 is Access Forbidden, so it's possible that it's deliberate BBC policy (or a glitch at their end).

When I asked which devices, I meant specific models and Android versions. BeyondPod only runs on Android

P.S. This looks like a separate issue from your original post, so I've moved it to a new thread.

I am getting the same error 403 (forbidden). Did you get a resolution?

To resolve it (since it's not a problem for me in the UK with the feeds listed above), first we need to be able to reproduce it to determine what the issue is, so we need more information please:

    • What version of BeyondPod are you running?
    • Are you in the UK?
    • What are the feed URLs of the podcasts that are affected for you?

I've had reports that everything's working again now, so possibly a glitch at their end. Could you try again please?

My BBC feeds (Infinite Monkey Cage, Friday Comedy, Comedy of the Week, Science in Action, The Life Scientific) all update with no problems. Comedy of the Week did download two episodes, which might indicate that there have been recent failures.

I do find that the little dingus on the feed image that indicates a failure is essentially invisible. Old eyes, perhaps.

I'm in the US, BP 4.1.47, Android 4.2.2, stock unrooted Samsung S4 Mini.

Yes, I think it was a temporary glitch at the BBC.

The only way I'm aware of update failures is from the warning triangle in the notifications when it doesn't work (but that's mostly because the only screen I look at in BP most of the time during normal use is the Player, since I have automatic downloads, and a set of SmartPlay lists honed to perfection for various situations).

I have Hide Notification Icon unticked in the Feed Update Settings, but it's exception reporting, so I don't get notifications about successful updates. Perfect. (I'm in the ageing eyes club too!)
