Thread: Why no "Show all unplayed" episodes in feed?

In General Settings there is this:

Allow hiding of Read or Played

I now have it checked. That seems to have done it. That added the option in the pulldown menu.

Why it's set up like that is Beyond Me. smh

But THANK YOU. That's cleared up now.

I WISH I were using an old version. Then it would do what I want.
Sorry to ask the obvious - but have you turned on "Allow hiding of Read or Played" option under Settings> General Settings?

EDIT: never mind. Looks like you figured out too. Somehow my email notification came late.

FWIW, this configuration has been called out long time ago when BP first updated to v4. Almost at the very top. Like the 3rd bullet points in the Getting Started>Tips for upgrading from version 3 to 4. Most of us had probably turned this on long time ago and forgot about it and now puzzled at why you having the issue.
In v4, the ability to hide read items/played episodes and feeds is disabled by default. To enable it use "Allow Hiding of Read or Played" in BeyondPod's General settings. More information is available here.
Reduce clutter by hiding "old" episodes
When you subscribe to a new feed it comes with (sometimes long) history of old episodes. When looking at "All Published" episodes of a feed, often you are only interested in the last couple of episodes as older episodes are usually already out of date. In this case it is very convenient to be able to hide all (or some) of the old episodes to reduce clutter.

You can mark any episode that you don't care anymore as "Played" (read). This can be done by tapping on the "three dot menu" and choosing "Mark Played" or long pressing the episode and choosing menu and selecting "Mark Played".

Once you have the old episodes marked as played, you can turn on "Allow Hiding of Read or Played" in BeyondPod's Settings > General Settings. This will add a new "Hide/Show Played" menu option to the feed's "All Published" screen overflow menu.

Turning the same option on, allows you to also hide feeds that don't have any "new" (unplayed) episodes in the Feed List. Use Menu > Show 'New' Feeds Only when the Feed List drawer is open.

Filter is the third option on that screenshot.

Does anyone know why it's even like that? Why make it two steps like that? Seems dumb.

Also, in the older version there was a "radio button" to mark an episode as played. I could just run down the feed and episodes I wanted to download, I clicked that, and episodes I wanted to mark as played (read), I clicked the radio button.

Now, to mark something as played it requires clicking the three dots and then clicking mark as played. Two clicks now instead of one. It's a minor annoyance, but some podcasts update daily and I may listen to 1-2 out of 10 episodes, so I'm going down the list of episodes and have to go through twice as many clicks.

It's getting OP, but I'm not sure what you are talking about. It's right there at the top for me. http://imgur.com/Yav1oqn

BTW, that radio button on v3 was terrible. It was so easy to click the wrong area and launch/stream the episode. I like this new (and more standard) way of multi select and mark as read.

I had streaming turned off so when I accidentally hit it, nothing happened except it said streaming was disabled.

What version are you running now? Mine absolutely does not look like that pic.

Try press and hold on a episode.
