Update: this issue is still present in 4.2.37. What information can I provide to help get this bug fixed? As I mentioned in another thread, the affected feeds show up incorrectly in the all episodes list, but show up correctly in the individual feed lists when the filtering is set to all published.
This bug is still present in 4.2.40. Is there any update on when this will be fixed?
I provoked this bug once, in a big way.
During a feed update with the progress window open, BP got wedged. I was away from the phone and the screen turned off. When I woke it up, BP was showing a totally black screen with a Back arrow. I don't recall what I had to do to get it's attention again.
Once BP was working again, it was clear that it had finished with all the feed updates and all the downloads, but hadn't finished updating all the information about the downloaded episodes. Several issues were visible:
- In My Episodes the newly downloaded episodes' titles were showing the file names, not the actual titles. But All Published showed the right titles.
- The affected episodes reported "this episode can't be played remotely" when I tried to Cast them.
- The episode counting and sorting during subsequent updates acted as though those episodes' dates were the date of the downloads, not the published dates.
- The same sorting behavior made the playlist update behave incorrectly.
Eventually I found all the affected episodes. Deleting them and re-adding to My Episodes cleared up the issues, and subsequently downloading them worked as expected.
So far, this was a one-time issue (with 4.2.38, IIRC).
It still appears this problem is not fixed, unless I am missing something? I'm on a new phone and the problem has followed.
Some podcast titles are a string of letters/numbers in the All Feeds (All Episodes) view and My Episodes view, switching to All Published view shows the title correctly. This only happens on automatic updates, if I manually update all feeds the titles are correct. In addition, even if the title is correct from an automatic update, in the All Feeds/All Episodes view, those podcasts are missing the View Episode Notes option. I'm also not able to see episode notes from the player screen on the same podcasts...
Same problem remains for me in 2021. Android S8 running Android ver 9, BeyondPod 4.3.28
Running a manual refresh seemed to display more of the individual titles, and toggling within a feed between "My Episodes" and "All Published" displays the rest. However, the titles don't remain when I toggle back to "my episodes."
