Flattr integration would be nice, would save a lot of manual hassle.
I bet the need for a registration stops a lot of people from asking for it.

I think so, too! May be a survey would be a good idea?

Well, to go back to the original question in the thread, how would you like it to work (from registration to choosing what to flattr and anything else that might be involved)?

Registering: somewhere in the options there should be a possibility to link BeyondPod to yout flattr account (in a similar way as adding your googleReader credentials).
I am not really sure about this one, but IIRC the flattr info gets posted inside the RSS, which in return PodCatcher could extract. So when adding the feed, the app could tell you, that the feed supports flattr and how BeyondPod should interact.
Subscribe (as in flattr as soon as new episode is available and/or downloaded), ask (I'd like to see an entry in the notification area here: "You have just finished listening <Episode> of <Podcast>. Tap here to flattr, swipe to dismiss.") or ignore (default for not connected players, maybe with a one time popup telling what flattr is and why it's awesome .

I would really like to have Flattr integration in BeyondPod.

Here is how I would like it to work:

Provide three different modes, which you can select on subscribing to a new feed (or later via the feed settings of that subscription).

    - Always flattr this feed / this episode when an episode is started
    - Ask to flattr after episode has finished (like THL already proposed)
    - Flattr after listening to the episode for 2 minutes or 50% of the full duration, whatever comes first.

For the first one, we have to somehow work it out how to handle podcasts where single episodes or/and the complete "show" can be flattered. My proposal: If both is possible, flatter the episode.

Of course should Flattr be part of BeyondPod! Why would someone be against that? Great idea!

So, no other points to discuss?

I would then suggest to the BeyondPod authors to just get started with an implementation, inspired by the points discussed above. Most of them are quite clear, in my opinion.

The three options dermatthias presented are enough for me.
My prefered option would be #3:
Flattr after listening to the episode for 2 minutes or 50% of the full duration, whatever comes first.

    Any updates here?

Integrating flattr is quite easy, every podcast I know of which uses Flattr includes this information in its feed, via the Flattr Feed API:
    http://developers.flattr.net/feed/

This is easy to use information on the BeyondPod-side.
